Hugo Tyson first joined Acorn in June 1980, starting full time in Sept 1982, and was there until 1990. Hugo will be joining us in the pub for a drink or two to tell us about everything(*) he did while at Acorn.
He worked on many projects such as DFS, ADFS, RISCiX, and on ARM development. Anyone who has ever examined a BBC Micro ADFS disc will recognise his name, as the directory check marker was the string HUGO.
As we have just passed the 40th anniversary of the first ARM processor, Hugo will also include details about how he wrote tests for the ARM before it even existed, and how his creative error messages caused a scandal at ARM despite never having worked there!
This meeting will also be online via Zoom, but being in the pub will give more time to chat to Hugo before the meeting starts, and to ply him with drinks to get the juicier stories :-)
There's a report on The Icon Bar, and you can download the slides .
