MPlayer and Pandaboard
Chris Gransden
Monday 19th March 2012, 7:45pm

The recently released port of the video playback application MPlayer has suddenly made a whole range of audio and video formats playable on RISC OS for the first time.

Chris will explain how he did the port from the original Linux MPlayer and describe its current capabilities and limitations, and discuss the possibilities for the future by taking advantage of the features of the newer RISC OS hardware.

To best demonstrate this, MPlayer's playback abilities will then be shown off on Chris's Pandaboard ES. Running at 1.2GHz this is currently the most powerful ARM based RISC OS system available, and we will be able to compare it with (depending on time and available plugs!) a RiscPC, Iyonix and ARMini.
