Something a bit (lot) different this month as we are delighted to welcome Leila Johnston as our guest speaker. Leila is a comedy writer, technologist, maker and broadcaster who encourages us to do things we‘re not supposed to.
Leila has given many talks on everything from boredom on the Starship Enterprise to creativity in the Terminator films, and has spoken at TEDx events, Ada Lovelace Day Live, The Royal Institution, The Royal Academy of Arts, and now ROUGOL :-)
These talks often feature slides generated using BBC BASIC, which certainly beats Powerpoint for creativity! Leila will tell us how and why she does this, and about how programming should be seen as a creative and above all fun pastime.
There will also be a chance to look at Leila's current project Hack Circus, a magazine and event series about fantasy technology and everyday magic.
RISCOSitory did a nice preview of this meeting.
